DSSC convenes for Regular Monday Convocation

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) held its regular Monday Convocation on August 17, 2026, at the DSSC Gymnasium. Sponsored by the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG), the college community gathered for the weekly assembly focused on institutional updates, values formation, and reminders on academic and administrative responsibilities.

Records and Archives Officer III Lurevie D. Pausal, MBA, facilitated the Values Restoration, where she put an emphasis on the value focus of the week, “Responsibility”. She explored the inevitability of mistakes in the workplace and how a responsible person, instead of blaming others, takes accountability and learns from them. She encouraged the attendees to go beyond simply acknowledging mistakes by asking, “How can I make sure this does not happen again?”

She pointed out the importance of acknowledging gaps, communication concerns, complying with established policies and procedures, and creating a monitoring system to ensure that corrective actions are sustained and similar mistakes are prevented from recurring.

It was followed by the presentation of office updates from the sponsoring office delivered by CBEG Dean Dr. Zandro B. Ibañez, which included the total number of officially enrolled students in the college for the new Academic Year 2026-2027. He also highlighted CBEG’s research accomplishments, along with its recent activities and ongoing initiatives.

Meanwhile, Human Resource Management Officer II Kristoffer Lois Tantano reminded faculty members back from their Teacher’s Leave to immediately accomplish and submit their Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR), and to also comply with their new Target IPCRs.

Updates and reminders were also given by the office of the Director for Instructions, who reminded academic administrators, particularly Deans and Program Heads, regarding the upcoming syllabi review, and to also submit their workloads and syllabi.

Monday convocations restate DSSC’s effort in strengthening a culture of responsibility, accountability, and continuous improvement among its employees. This activity contributes to the institution’s support of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 for Quality Education and SDG 16 for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
