DAVSURANON Sports Fest 2026 Draws Athletes, Students, and Communities Across Region XI

The first-ever DAVSURANON Sports Fest 2026 officially concluded after bringing together students, athletes, faculty members, sports advocates, and community partners for three days of sports and cultural activities in Digos City.

Organized by the Davao del Sur State College Sports Development Office under the leadership of Dr. Gideon I. Juezan, the event carried the theme “Paghiusa pinaagi sa Dula, Kultura, ug Kadasig.” The sports fest, held from May 14–16, 2026, gathered participants not only from DSSC but also from other PASUC Region XI schools, including Davao del Norte State College, Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology, Davao Oriental State University, the University of Southeastern Philippines, and Davao de Oro State College.

During the event, participants joined in various activities that mixed sports, culture, and community bonding. Dance competitions, traditional Filipino games, badminton matches, food showcases, and pickleball brought together students and guests from different parts of the region.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the steady rise in pickleball, which drew a large crowd of players, supporters, and sports enthusiasts.

Beyond the competitions, the event also became a space where students and participants from different schools were able to interact outside formal academic settings. During the Social Night with sponsors and partners, invited guest speaker Emmanuel Rene S. Ayo reminded participants that sports should encourage respect and connection among players.

“Kalaro, hindi kalaban,” he said. He also shared that sports should not only focus on winning and losing, but should also help shape character and relationships.

The successful conduct of the sports fest was made possible through the support of sponsors and partners, including the Philippine Sports Commission, which helped support the realization of the event.

For many participants, the DAVSURANON Sports Fest became more than just a sports gathering, it also turned into a chance to represent schools, meet new people, and kind of enjoy shared passions through sport and culture.

The event supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by encouraging active ways of living, and regular physical activity, and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cooperation among schools, organizations, plus local community partners.
