Faculty members from Davao del Sur State College took part in the 2026 International Physical Education Convention held from May 5 to 9 in Davao City.
The convention gathered physical education educators, researchers, coaches, and program coordinators from different institutions to discuss current practices, research, and developments related to physical education and wellness. This year’s theme was “Elevating Philippine Physical Education: Leading Innovation, Impact, and Excellence on the Global Stage.”
Hosted by 1PhysEd.Ph in partnership with the University of Southeastern Philippines and Lyceum of the Philippines University Davao, the event also featured research presentations and poster exhibits from participating schools and universities.
Representing DSSC were Dr. Gideon I. Juezan, Sports Development Office Coordinator; Instr. Jenie Philip S. Saniel, Culture and Arts Office Coordinator; Instr. Jerome Ferdinand O. Balaga, Head of the Wellness Technology, Health and Care Research Center; and Instr. Krishna Hernandez-Balaga.
During the convention, the College presented three research papers and two research posters. One of the posters, titled “The Cultural Life of Athletic Movement,” earned the Best Poster Award and was presented by Dr. Juezan.
For the participating faculty members, the convention also became a venue to exchange ideas with educators and researchers from other institutions while learning about current directions in physical education and wellness programs.
The participation supports Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through wellness and physical education initiatives, Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through research and faculty development, and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic collaboration among institutions.
