


Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through its Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO) conducted a Digos River Clean-up Drive along the river bank of Barangay Zone 1, Digos City on March 21, 2026.
The activity was held in line with the celebration of the World Water Day 2026, with the theme “Water and Gender: Where Water Flowers, Equality Grows,” the event was joined by students, faculty members, volunteers, and partner organizations in a combined effort to promote environmental awareness, gender inclusivity, and community participation.
The initiative is one of DSSCs many efforts to maintain and encourage proper waste management, stressing the importance of water resources in daily life and the role of shared responsibility in protecting them.
With full support from the college President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, the activity was led by ECSO Director Dr. Queenie Lyn G. Almerez, reflecting DSSC’s continued support in activities focused on environmental protection and participation, and the college’s support to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal, particularly the SDG 6 for Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 5 for Gender Equality, and SDG 17 for Partnership for the Goals.
