



In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Davao de Sur, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through its Food and Innovation Center (FIC), opened the Davao del Sur Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Week 2026 at the DSSC Mini Theater on July 7, 2026.
With the theme “Navigating the Shift: Building Resilient and Future-Ready MSMEs,” the program was attended by local entrepreneurs, government agencies, and industry partners for the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Seminar, which tackled discussions about the knowledge and competencies of MSMEs in producing safe and quality food products.
The College president, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, delivered a message of support, relaying the affirmation of DSSC’s commitment to advancing community development through capacity-building initiatives and partnerships that help support and empower local enterprises.
The seminar had DSSC’s Emily B. Aldia, PFT, who discussed the principles and application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety, where she emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation, implementing standardized production procedures, ensuring quality control, and complying with food safety regulations to produce safe, high-quality, and market-ready food products. Prevention of food contamination was also discussed along with improving operational efficiency and strengthening consumer confidence through responsible food manufacturing practices.
This seminar forms part of the province’s MSME Week celebration, where it highlights the collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions in promoting sustainable and competitive local businesses, supporting various Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth); SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure); and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
