Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through the International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO) joined the ASEAN AI Pioneers Week 2026 held on August 12-15, 2026, at Da Nang, Vietnam.
Representing the college were College of Mathematics, Arts, and Sciences faculty member Jarsey Krim A. Taub, MAEd, and College of Engineering and Technology – Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering student Gionyl John L. Castro.
They joined the four day program where activities centered on culture, innovation, technology, and diversity were featured. This allowed the participants to join in the exchange of ideas and learn from different perspectives, and help build connections with fellow students and educators from across the ASEAN region. They also joined in the cultural and academic activities that allowed them to share Filipino traditions, values, and perspectives while gaining insights from the experiences of their ASEAN counterparts.
The event was organized by Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) Global Education and FPT University, bringing together international academic mobility program for students and educators from various ASEAN countries including the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam, with the aim to promote academic exchange, cultural understanding, innovation, and collaboration in education and technology.
This participation gave the participants the opportunity to connect internationally, and gain new cultural learning, and academic engagement. It supports various Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
